It was the first time the Scot had taken a team back to the ground he enjoyed little joy on as manager of Manchester United. Daley Blind s opener ensured Sunderland were behind at the break while Zlatan Ibrahimovic doubled United s lead in the second half. Mkhitaryan then came off the bench to score a stunning goal. Fabio Borini pulled one back in added time but it was a case of too little too late for the visitors. United fans ignore Moyes on his return Much had been made of the return of David Moyes to Old Trafford for the first time since his sacking by United in 2014 after 10 months in charge. In the end there was no hostility or polite applause for the Scot just cold indifference from United fans which was probably the biggest insult of all. It was either that or the bear hug United mascot Fred the Red gave Moyes before kick-off. The goalscoring burden at Manchester United has fallen squarely on the shoulders of Zlatan Ibrahimovic this season with the Swede scoring 17 in all competitions. But he showed there is more to his game than goals with the assist for Daley Blind to plunder the opener https://www.vayable.com/users/203827 and Mkhitaryan s special strike four minutes from time. Not to be outdone Zlatan ensured he also got on the scoresheet to help seal the win. Read More Manchester United 3-1 Sunderland player ratings: Who was your man of the match at Old Trafford? Pogba growing in stature with every game Paul Pogba United s world record 89million signing was seemingly everywhere here playing with remorseless energy and enterprise giving United an extra dimension in midfield with his speed power and athleticism not to mention his ability to pick out a killer plus. Mkhitaryan continues his renaissance Henrikh Mkhitaryan has waited a while to make his mark at United but his spectacular 86th-minute back-heeled strike took his goal tally to three in as many games even if replays showed he was offside when Ibrahimovic picked him out. Mkhitaryan is a player reborn even if he was only afforded a late cameo here and is likely to be a key man for United in 2017.
